SAN DIEGO, CA (June 15, 2021) – Early in the morning on Saturday in San Diego, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle. The June 12 crash occurred on Mira Mesa Boulevard in the 6600 block, in the neighborhood of Sorrento Valley.

The time was roughly 12:07 a.m., Tony Martinez said. Martinez is an officer with San Diego Police.

According to police, the pedestrian had been in the street and pushing a shopping cart. It is not clear from reports if the pedestrian was crossing the street, or walking along it.

A vehicle–described as a Honda Civic, red in color–which had been heading east on Mira Mesa Boulevard, struck the person.

Responders arrived to help, but the victim died at the crash site. He was identified only as in his 20s. His name has not been reported.

The person who had been driving the vehicle was identified only as a man in his 20s. His name and city of residence have not been reported.

Investigators are continuing to collect details and information about the crash.
