Reseda, CA – Authorities report a suspected hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a pedestrian as she crossed a street in Reseda Monday evening, March 2nd. The incident occurred just after 6:55 P.M. when officers responded to a report of a pedestrian in the roadway near the intersection of Hart Street and Tampa Avenue. According to Los Angeles Police Department Lt. Debra Brownsten, the woman was crossing Tampa Street when she was struck by a vehicle that was traveling northbound. The driver failed to stop to render aid to the victim and was stopped by citizens further down the street. Officers arrived and administered a field sobriety test on the driver before placing him under arrest for driving under the influence and for hit-and-run. His identity was not available. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later by medical personnel. She was described as a woman in her 30s. Brownsten said the circumstances of the collision, including the status of the lights at the intersection, remained under investigation.
