19 Year Old Woman Killed, 2 Injured in DUI Accident in Yuba City
Yuba City, CA (December 14, 2023) – In a tragic incident on Sunday night, Malyanh Soulinthone lost her life in a fatal DUI accident on Highway 99 near Highway 20, according to a statement from the Yuba City Police Department.
Malyanh Soulinthone Dies, James Terry, Shawna Loyd Hospitalized in 2-Car Crash on Highway 99 near Highway 20
The head-on collision unfolded around 10:00 p.m. A 19-year-old Malyanh Soulinthone, under the influence of alcohol, veered from the southbound lanes into the northbound side. She was operating her Honda without headlights at an undisclosed speed in the southbound lanes. She collided with a northbound BMW on its passenger side. The impact was so severe that the Honda careened over the east embankment.
Emergency services were quick to respond, rushing 46-year-old James Terry and 46-year-old Shawna Loyd, occupants of the BMW, to a nearby hospital for the treatment of minor injuries. Tragically, Soulinthone succumbed to her injuries at the scene, where evidence of alcohol was discovered in her vehicle.
