A woman was killed in an illegal Los Angeles street race car crash involving three vehicles. It was reported that at least six others were injured at the crash that same night.
Michael Villalobos, a 20-year-old, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter according to California Highway Patrol. He was behind the wheel of one of the vehicles that were illegally racing prior to the car wreck.
Reporters stated that Villalobos was behind the wheel of a 2003 Acura that ran through a red light shortly after midnight. At about the same time a 24-year-old woman made an attempt to cross the same intersection in a 1997 Honda but collided with the vehicle that ran the red light.
The collision killed the young Los Angeles woman on impact.
Upon colliding, the Acura ricochet and slammed against a 2008 Honda driven by a 50-year-old South Gate woman. This woman sustained serious injuries after the crash. In her vehicle, the 2008 Honda, two of the other passengers, a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, were also injured but the injuries were minor.
Medical respondents who rushed to the scene took the seriously injured woman to a local hospital. Further news regarding her condition has not been made available yet.
Villalobos reportedly suffered moderate injuries. The other two passengers in the Acura, males, ages 17 and 21 came out of the accident almost unscathed suffering only slight minor injuries.
Further reports regarding the situation have not been made available to the public and the case continues to be under investigation.
