Victor Lopez Jr. Struck and Killed by Hit-and-run Driver on Highway 184 in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 23, 2021) – On Sunday in Bakersfield, a hit-and-run driver struck and killed a pedestrian. The victim of the December 19 crash was identified as Victor Lopez Jr., a resident of Bakersfield, 44 years old.

The crash occurred on Highway 184, near Farmers Lane and to the south of it, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities received reports of a pedestrian injured and found the victim had been left at the crash site. The suspect driver–who has not been described–fled the scene without helping the victim.

Lopez Jr. died from his injuries.

Investigators are searching for the vehicle involved in the crash, which has also not been described, and the suspect hit-and-run driver. They are continuing to collect information regarding the incident.
