Vehicle Smashes into Rear of Semi Truck on the 605 Freeway in Irwindale; One Killed

IRWINDALE, CA (December 20, 2021) – On Sunday night in Irwindale, a vehicle traveling on the 605 Freeway smashed into the back end of a semi truck. One person was killed in the December 19 crash, which occurred on the southbound side of the freeway.

Reports say a vehicle smashed into the truck’s back end, for reasons that are not yet known. The vehicle–which has not been described–became wedged beneath the truck.

Responders arrived and found the driver of the vehicle had died in the crash. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.

The person who was driving the semi truck has also not been identified. It is not known if the truck driver was hurt in the crash.

Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened, and what circumstances may have contributed.
