A Caltrans worker and a child were among the people that were critically injured on Tuesday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on the 710 Freeway.

The crash occurred at about 2 p.m. near Rosecrans Avenue on the freeway’s northbound lanes when a semi truck and Buick collided, sending the Buick spinning out of control. The California Highway Patrol indicated that they are not sure what caused the collision, but speculate that one of the vehicles was changing lanes.

The Buick struck a Caltrans worker, who was picking up trash on the side of road. The woman suffered serious injuries to her legs.

The four passengers, including one 5-year-old boy, were critically injured and nearly crushed. They were all airlifted to the hospital.
