Teen Driver Hits and Kills Scooter Rider in Balboa Park Area of San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA (September 20, 2021) – Late at night on Saturday in San Diego, a person riding a scooter was struck and killed. The September 18 crash occurred in the area of Balboa Park, at 2850 Pershing Drive.

The time was roughly 10:55 p.m., San Diego Police said.

The rider was traveling on a Link Scooter in the bike lane, reports say, and a vehicle–described as a Mazda sedan–which had been traveling the same way, struck him.

Responders pronounced the man deceased at the crash site. He was identified only as 35 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.

The driver was identified only as a girl, 17 years old.
