SUV Hits Woman Exiting Uber Vehicle on Market Street in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA (April 8, 2022) – On Thursday night in San Diego, a crash injured a woman in the Gaslamp District. The April 7 crash occurred at 500 Market Street.

The time was roughly 9:10 p.m., according to Robert Heims. Heims is an officer with San Diego Police.

Authorities said the driver in an Uber vehicle pulled in front of a Chevrolet Suburban that was parked to let his ride out. The passenger–who was identified only as a woman–exited from the rear door on the right-hand side of the vehicle.

As she was exiting, according to Heims, the SUV’s driver pulled away from the curb and struck her.

Responders transported the woman to a local hospital. She suffered injuries that included a broken leg.

Neither the driver of the Uber vehicle, nor the driver of the SUV has been identified in reports.

Investigators are continuing their work to collect information about the crash.
