An accident caused by what authorities believe to be street racing left one person dead in Riverside County on Sunday.

The 29-year-old, Sergio Alex Garcia of Laguna Hills, was thrown from his car at the moment of the crash. He died at the scene, according to the Riverside Coroner’s Office.

The crash happened on Sunday at about 1 p.m. when a BMW and a Honda convertible started racing on Lincoln Street in Lake Elsinore.

Garcia was driving very fast at the time of the crash and was not wearing a seat belt.

The other car left the scene of the accident before authorities arrived. Luis Estrada Garcia, 26, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter in connection with the crash. Garcia has a suspended license and two outstanding warrants from Riverside and Orange counties.
