A DeLorean self-driving car was unveiled by Stanford University Tuesday. It is called MARTY for Multiple Actuator Research Test bed for Yaw control.

The announcement corresponds with the future date set for the time machine in the film “Back to the Future Part II”.

The engineers aspire to design a car that can perform any possible maneuver.

Renova Motors partnered with  Stanford University in the creation of MARTY.

A central application program interface replaces the original gasoline engine.

The engineers’ goals are to have precise control over the car and design it to interact with humans.

The engineers would like to design the cars to detect signals given out by drivers.
