SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (March 3, 2022) – Early in the evening on Wednesday in South Los Angeles, a driver fleeing police pursuit in a suspected stolen vehicle collided with a school bus. The March 2 crash injured eight people, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The time was roughly 7:30 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

The stolen vehicle–described only as an SUV, dark in color–was being by pursued by authorities, Deputy Meza said. Meza is with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

In the area of Broadway-Manchester, on West 108th Street in the 200 block, the SUV and a school bus for the Los Angeles Unified School District collided.

Responders arrived to help, and gave medical attention to eight people who were injured. The types of injuries suffered are not known.

Reports do not say how many people were aboard the bus. Responders transported one patient from the bus to a hospital in the area.

The age of the patient is not known.

Neither driver has been identified in reports; they both were reported among the injured.

Crews from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power also arrived on scene to fix high-voltage power lines that were knocked down in the crash.

Investigators are working to understand the incident.
