Seven Injured In Multi Car Pile Up

A multistage accident involving a half a dozen cars injured seven people, including three who were sent to the hospital, early Tuesday morning in North Hollywood.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the crash took place at the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Whitsett Avenue at around 7:30 a.m.

A total of seven people were injured in the carnage of the accident. Four were minimally injured and received treatment on the scene, though three were taken to a nearby hospital, where at least one is listed in critical condition.

Bits of plastic and metal were scattered across lanes in all directions. A white sedan was completely destroyed in the accident, with both its front and rear end almost completely unrecognizable. Two black cars and a large black pickup truck were also entangled with each other, with major body panels being completely crushed. A white SUV and another black sedan had less severe damage.

At this time, little is known about the circumstances that led to the crash. Authorities closed down the intersection to allow for investigators to question witnesses and drivers involved, and to allow for cleanup crews to sweep up the debris from the multitude of collisions.

The city has established alternate routes for drivers looking to travel through the area. Oxnard Street and Kittridge Street are offered as alternatives to Victory, and Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Coldwater Canyon are suggested for motorists looking to use Whitsett.
