POWAY, CA (May 27, 2022) – Early in the morning on Wednesday in Poway, a single-vehicle crash killed a person who was a passenger. The May 25 crash occurred where Community Road and Twin Peaks Road intersect.

The time was roughly 3:22 a.m., according to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities said the vehicle had been traveling on Twin Peaks Road and heading east. The vehicle hit a signal pole, and the impact sent the vehicle to overturn.

The two occupants were trapped in the vehicle when responders arrived.

The driver was extricated by deputies, but the passenger had severe injuries and responders from the Poway Fire Department worked to free him.

Responders transported the two men to Palomar Hospital located in Escondido.

The passenger died in the hospital. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.

The driver was identified as Jordan Bourassa, 23 years old. Authorities arrested him on suspicion of bodily injury, vehicular manslaughter, and driving under the influence.
