WALNUT, CA (May 10, 2022) – Phillip Rosas was identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office as the boy who died from his injuries in a crash in Walnut. The May 8 crash occurred where North Grand Avenue and East Valley Boulevard intersect.

The time was roughly 1:50 a.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

Reports say a vehicle hit the car Phillip Rosas had been traveling in. Three other people were in the car with him.

The force of the crash sent one of the vehicles to break off a fire hydrant. The other vehicle erupted in flames.

Responders transported two children to the hospital whose conditions were described as critical.

Phillip Rosas was one of the young victims. He died from his injuries. He was 8 years old.

The other child is in the hospital in critical condition.

Two other patients who had been traveling with the children are in the hospital. Their conditions were described as stable.

The two patients have not been identified in reports.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrested the driver of the other vehicle. The suspect’s identity has not been reported.

Investigators are continuing to work on the crash.
