One Killed, Two Injured In Car Vs. Pedestrian
Two people were seriously injured and one was killed Monday in a car crash in Koreatown.
The accident occurred at 6:39 a.m. It happened in the 4000 block of Beverly Boulevard at Normandie Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The driver, who was in a white pickup, was traveling east on Beverly Boulevard when it ran a red light, colliding with a grey Toyota Camry. The impact propelled the Camry onto a nearby sidewalk where it struck three pedestrians. The Camry then hit a parked BMW that suffered minor damage.
A male pedestrian was declared dead at the scene. The two surviving victims, a man and a woman, were transported to County-USC Medical Center in serious condition.
The driver of the white pickup truck fled the scene on foot. He has been described as a Hispanic man wearing black pants and a red shirt. He is wanted for felony hit-and-run, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The identities of the man killed and the two injured were not released. It was not clear if police suspect the driver to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident.
