Nissan Issues Recall over Suspension Issues

Nissan has announced a new recall on their 2012 Frontier, Xterra, and Pathfinder models over a front suspension component with a propensity to fail, totally disabling affected vehicles.

The recall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, covers about 2,400 trucks and SUVs equipped with the two-wheel drive option built between June 19 and July 12 of this year which were installed with a defective front wheel hub that has the potential to crack or break completely.

Any such breakage of this front wheel hub can completely disable a vehicle, exposing drivers to obvious and serious danger in the event of a failure while on open roads.

The NHTSA did not specify whether or not the faulty component had led to any accidents or injuries for owners, though it appears as though Nissan investigators were able to identify the issue before it had the chance to spread onto a much larger scale.

Nissan will begin notifying owners of affected vehicles at the beginning of next week. To remedy the issue, owners are being offered a replacement of both the left and right side front wheel hub assemblies at no charge.
