National City Crash on Highland Ave. Kills Pedestrian

NATIONAL CITY, CA (August 11, 2022) – Early in the morning on Wednesday in National City, a vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian. The August 10 crash occurred on Highland Avenue close to where East 16th Street is located.

The time was roughly 6:15 a.m., National City Police said.

The pedestrian was walking across the street, not within a crosswalk, when the vehicle struck her, according to National City Police.

Responders pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the crash site.

Her identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.

The person who had been driving the vehicle–which has not been described–stayed at the crash site and cooperated with the investigation.

The driver’s identity is not known from reports.

Investigators are currently gathering information and details to understand why the crash happened, and what may have contributed to it.
