Arroyo Grande, CA (October 9, 2018) – After a series of collisions involving a deer entering the roadway, a Los Osos motorcyclist was killed Tuesday morning, October 9th. California Highway Patrol responded to the crash at around 6:35 a.m. on Highway 101 near El Campo Road, when the driver of a Ford Mustang in the southbound lanes of the 101 struck a deer that came onto the road. The collision sent the deer further into the highway and directly into the path of a motorcycle driven by 49-year-old Johnny Trujillo of Los Osos, CHP said. According to investigations, Trujillo was ejected from his vehicle and was then struck by the driver of a Toyota Prius, and died at the scene. No other involved parties were injured in the collisions, CHP said. Traffic was backed up as officials closed roads for several hours while cleanup and investigation were underway.
