Hit-and-Run Driver Hits a Power Pole Leaving 1,600 without Power in Valley Village

Los Angeles, CA (June 7, 2018) – A power pole was struck causing a minor power outage for the residents living in Valley Village, a neighborhood in North Hollywood. The incident happened late Thursday afternoon, June 7th, around 11:30 p.m. when North Hollywood Police Department received reports of a driver who lost control of his car, struck the power pole and his vehicle came to a rest on 2 parked cars. The car then became engulfed in flames. The collision had also sheared of a fire hydrant in the area. The crash startled many nearby residents that night. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power reported that 1,600 customers were affected by the power outage and would be getting their power back up and a new replacement as soon as possible. LAPD stated that after impact the driver left the scene. No information regarding the driver has been released. Officials are continuing their investigation on the crash.
