Los Angeles, CA – 3 Year Old Boy Killed and Pregnant Mother Loses Her Unborn Child

Los Angeles, CA (July 9, 2018) – A fatal car crash killed a 3-year boy and caused a pregnant mother to lose her unborn child on 110 Freeway in Los Angeles Monday, July 9th. The pregnant woman identified as 25-year old Nanci Martinez was 7 months pregnant, was driving down the 110 Freeway around 10:00p.m. in a 2009 Chevrolet with her 2 children in the back, ages 3 and 5. According to California Highway Patrol, for unknown reasons Martinez had pulled over onto the right shoulder near exit 76 and came to a stop. Moments later a 2018 Mercedes Benz SUV , with 2 occupants, made an unsafe turn that started from lane 5 all the way to where it struck the wall and then crashed into the rear end of Martinez’s car. Martinez’s 3-year-old boy sustained critical injuries and her 5-year old moderate injuries. Later at the Harbor UCLA Medical Center her 3-year old was pronounced dead and Martinez lost her unborn child. Apparently the driver of the Mercedes Benz, Identified as Ken Li, was experiencing mechanical difficulties with his car before the crash. Li was transported to the hospital when he claimed that he felt pain all over his body. Anita Li, the passenger and wife of Ken Li, sustained a fractured hip from the crash and was also transported to the hospital. Authorities say that drugs or alcohol didn’t seem to be a factor in the crash and the investigation is ongoing to gather more information.
