Blue Canyon, CA (September 13, 2018) – A private contractor died in a crash on the I-80 freeway early Tuesday morning en route to assist in the North Fire containment effort. Tahoe National Forest officials released a statement detailing the incident regarding the bulldozer operator, Tony Flores, a 37-year-old father of four and a longtime employee of Kent Siller Trucking. Flores, assigned to the 1,120-acre wildfire burning in Tahoe Nation Forest, was on his way to his command post near Blue Canyon airport when he was involved in a deadly crash. The statement further discusses Flores’ more than twenty years of experience with Kent Siller Trucking, and his experience in fire containment for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Although as of Tuesday the North Fire is around 85 percent contained, the intensity of the latest fire season rages on.
