A driver hit a utility pole and snapped it in half when he drove too fast around a corner in his Crown Victoria, according to West Sacramento Police.

The accident occurred at about 3 a.m. on Friday morning when the driver attempted to turn from 6th street onto Andrew Street when he lost control.

The black vehicle smashed into a Volvo that was parked at the end of the street.

The impact then launched the Volvo onto the sidewalk and into a fence in front of a residence.

The Crown Victoria continued on before smashing into the utility pole with so much for that the base the base of the pole snapped in half.

The driver attempted to flee the scene on foot, but was caught by officers just a few blocks away.

The driver did not appear to be impaired by drugs or alcohol, according to police records.
