CARLSBAD, CA (August 3, 2021) – Late at night on Friday, a pedestrian was struck and seriously injured in Carlsbad. The July 30 crash occurred where Salk Way and College Boulevard intersect.

The time was roughly 11:07 p.m., Steve Thomas said. Thomas is a lieutenant with Carlsbad Police.

No details have been reported on where the victim had been walking when she was struck, or the line of travel of the vehicle involved in the crash. The vehicle has not been described.

The driver did not stay and the scene to help the victim, but fled the area.

Responders from Carlsbad Fire Department arrived and found the victim had serious injuries. They transported her to the hospital.

The victim suffered injuries that were described as life threatening. She was identified only as 26 years old. Her name and city of residence have not been reported.

Investigators are searching for the vehicle involved in the crash, and the suspect driver, who has not been described.
