Hacienda Heights, CA (November 12, 2018) – An 18 year old passenger dies and driver suffers severe injuries when vehicle plummeted more than 100 ft. down an embankment after going off the side of Turnbull Canyon Road in Hacienda Heights on Sunday afternoon, police said.
Anthony Szeto (18) of Hacienda Heights passed away at the scene at 12:20 p.m. The collision was on Turnbull Canyon Road, just South of Skyline Drive, stated by California Highway Patrol and L.A County department of Medical examiner- Corner officials. Anthony had just turned 18 three days prior to accident.
The 1992 Mazda was being driven by another 18 year old Hacienda Heights man, the CHP stated in written statement. The crash headed south at an unknown speed prior to the crash. Driver lost control as he negotiated a left curve in the roadway and then hit a dirt embankment; they then rolled over as it descended the other side.
Both driver and passenger were stuck in the car, officials said. Paramedics pronounced Szeto dead at the scene, CHP stated. Driver was transported to the trauma center with severe injuries. Both were wearing seatbelts and no Dui was suspected, officials said.
