Oakland, CA (December 1, 2018) – The driver of a Greyhound bus is being hailed as a hero after he was able to evacuate the charter bus and get all his passengers to safety after the bus spontaneously erupted into flames Saturday evening December 1st. According to California Highway Patrol, the Greyhound was traveling eastbound on Interstate 580 when for reasons unknown, the bus driver quickly noticed there were sparks coming from one of the rear tires and immediately pulled over to the side of the freeway and evacuated passengers to safety. The flames from the bus caused traffic on eastbound I-580 near the highway 24 split and caused the freeway to be closed.
