Driver Fails at Sobriety Test, Keeping His Car Upright

A suspected drunk driver was taken into custody after a solo vehicle rollover accident late Wednesday night in San Diego.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place at around 10:30 p.m. on the transition ramp from the northbound Interstate 15 to eastbound State Route 94.

When police responded to the scene, they were told by the driver of the vehicle that another car had hit his SUV, a Chevrolet Trailblazer, which caused him to lose control and roll.

When police questioned the passenger in the car, however, the story was a bit different. He said that the vehicle simply struck gravel on the transition ramp and the driver lost control on his own.

With this new information in hand, officers issued the driver a field sobriety test, which he promptly failed. He was then arrested immediately for driving under the influence of alcohol.

The freeway ramp was closed down for almost an hour as crews worked to right the fallen SUV and drag it from the scene. Thankfully, there were no other cars involved, and no one was injured in the crash.
