CHP Release Report of Fatalities Over Labor Day Weekend

California, USA (September 3, 2019)- The California Highway Patrol has issued new statistics showing shocking results of DUI drivers arrested and people killed in crashes around the state over the Labor Day Weekend August 30th- September 2nd. According that CHP report, at least 45 people were killed in fatal crashes throughout the state and over 1,000 suspected DUI drivers were arrested during the 3 day weekend.

Between 6:00 P.M. Friday and 11:59 P.M. Monday, CHP officers responded to those 45 deaths of which 74% of the victims were not wearing their seat belts. 1,078 drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Labor Day weekend is among the busiest weekend for travelers on the state’s highways and unfortunately it is also among the most dangerous with drunk and drugged drivers chancing their lives and others. California was among 4 other states that participated in the anticipated crackdown of offenders in the Western United States.
