Camarillo, CA – Three People Killed in Separate Crashes

Camarillo, CA (July 11, 2019)- The California Highway Patrol has identified 3 people who were killed in 2 separate collisions in Camarillo, a city in Ventura County about 15 miles from Thousand Oaks, Thursday evening, July 11th. According to CHP officials, the fatal collisions occurred minutes apart from one another with the 1st collision occurring just before 8:00 P.M. at the intersection of Las Posas Road and Laguna Road. 71-year old Teruyo Washington, of Camarillo, and 76-year old Lawrence Washington, also of Camarillo, were traveling northbound on Las Posas Road in a 2009 Honda Accord. As they approached the intersection with Laguna Road, they were struck by a 2018 Dodge Challenger that was traveling eastbound on Laguna Road and that failed to stop at a stop sign when the Honda was passing through. Both Teruyo and Lawrence were pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. The driver of the Dodge Challenger,23-year old Juan Llamos and passenger 21-year old Anthony Zaragoza were transported to Las Robles Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries sustained during the collision.

The 2nd collision occurred near the intersection of Fairway Drive and a road just north of Deseo Drive sometime before 8:00 P.M. 31- year old Romeo Marquez, of Panorama City, was driving a Peterbilt single semi-truck towing another semi-truck traveling northbound on Fairway Drive when he lost control of his vehicle and drove off the road and rolled down an embankment. Marquez was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. It is not clear what caused Marquez to lose control but PCH has said that both collisions are still under investigation.
