A train ran into the car of a 30 year old woman who was killed Monday in Menlo Park.

The woman was pinned inside the car. Firefighters were able to extricate her and she was taken by paramedics to Stanford Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The car appeared to have gotten caught on the tracks.

An investigation is ongoing.

There were 400 passengers on the train, none of whom were injured.

Service was interrupted in both directions for 45 minutes.

The train “sustained substantial damage”

Caltrin reported that the gate crossings were “functioning properly and were down”.

Caltrain spokeswoman, Jayme Ackerman extended her sympathies and concern for the family and friends of the victim.
