Suspected Street Racer in Sylmar Crashes Car into El Tarasco Restaurant

SYLMAR, CA (June 24, 2021) – Early in the morning on Sunday in Sylmar, the El Tarasco Mexican Restaurant was damaged when a suspected street racer crashed a car into it. The June 20 incident occurred on Glenoaks Boulevard in the 13000 block.

Reports say the crash was recorded on video from a surveillance camera. In the video, according to reports, a vehicle smashes into the building, and glass explodes into the roadway. One person runs from the area of window when the crash occurs, reports say.

A large number of spectators were standing at the intersection during what was called a street takeover. Reports say that according to the son of the owner of the restaurant–identified as Chris Torres–collisions in the area have happened more than once.

The vehicle that smashed into the restaurant has not been described, nor has the suspect driver.

The extent of the damage to the restaurant is not known from reports.

Investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department are working to identify and locate the suspect driver.
