Road Safety for Newport Beach

Extra officers will be on the streets of Newport Beach next week as the Newport Beach Police Department focuses efforts on enforcing traffic laws.

Area that will be concentrated on are those that are frequently traveled by motorcyclists.

On January 23, activities will include writing tickets for motorists and motorcyclists.

Road safety is the focus.

Police will cite drivers who drive under the influence, speed, drive on a suspended license, etc.

The day is sponsored by the California Office of Traffic and Safety through the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.

This is the second operation of its kind.
