Pregnant Woman Crashes into Building in Bellflower

BELLFLOWER, CA (July 30, 2019) – Los Angeles Police Department says they have video evidence that has captured the moments an SUV veered off the road and crashed into a building in central Bellflower early Thursday morning, August 1st. According to Los Angeles County Fire Department, the incident occurred sometime around 1:00 A.M. when a Ford Explorer XLT swerved into the wrong side of the road and proceeded to plow into the side of a commercial building below apartment units in the 9300 block of Los Angeles, near Clark Street. Cindy Pierce, a resident who lives in the apartment units above the commercial space said after she heard a loud bang she immediately rushed downstairs to see what was the matter.

Pierce said she saw a pregnant woman exit the vehicle and that she was later transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. A Los Angeles zoning assessor was on scene to inspect the structural integrity of the commercial building. Inspector Mike Borzi says the residents above the commercial space were lucky because the driver had hit a window under a header supporting the building. It was unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in the collision but authorities say that the woman suffered no serious injuries and was released from the hospital hours after arriving. No other information has been made available at this time.
