A man was hit and killed by a train on Friday afternoon in Fullerton, according to local authorities who are still investigating the scene.

At about 3:15 p.m. officers responded to reports of a pedestrian being hit by a train near State College Boulevard and Valencia Drive.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene according to fire dispatchers.

The man appeared to be in 40s or 50s, but no other information has been released until his family is notified.

Metrolink officials confirmed that it was one of their trains that was involved in the accident.

No one riding the train was injured.

Riders on the Metrolink No. 705 were taken to stations by an Amtrak train and buses.

Only the Riverside line was affected by the accident and travelers were encouraged to use the Orange County of Inland Empire lines.

Metrolink agents were at the scene to help redirect people to their proper destinations.
