A man that was involved in a minor fender-bender on the 10 freeway on Saturday morning was hit and killed by an ambulance.

22-year-old Eduardo Mondano, of San Dimas, was driving in his Toyota pickup truck when he was struck from behind by a Nissan sedan west of the Puente Avenue exit at about 5 a.m.

The crash caused both vehicles to stop temporarily on the freeway.

An ambulance that was following just behind the two vehicles tried to swerve to avoid them, but as Mondano exited the vehicle, the ambulance veered towards him and struck him.

Mondano died at the scene.

The ambulance driver was identified as Michael Lopez, 23, of West Covina.

No one else was hurt in the accident, which is still under investigation.
