EL CAJON, CA (January 12, 2022) – According to the National Transportation Safety Board, a preliminary report reveals some findings in the El Cajon plane crash that killed four people on December 27, 2021. Investigators say the plane hit power lines before the plane crashed in an El Cajon neighborhood.

The weather had been cloudy when the plane–described as a Learjet 35A–was traveling to Gillespie Field to land.

All aboard the plane were killed.

They were identified by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office as Laure Rose Gentz, a resident of Escondido, 68 years old; Christina Elizabeth Ward, 52 years old; Douglas James Grande, 45 years old; and Julian Jorge Bugaj, 67 years old.

Two of the people who died were flight nurses aboard the medical transport plane, and two people were pilots.

According to the preliminary report, the plane crashed into a house’s yard in a residential area close to where the runway is located.

Debris from the crash damaged a house and a car, reports say.

Investigators with the NTSB are continuing their work on the crash, with a final report not expected for another year or two.
