2nd Fatal Plane Crash in 2 Days near La Verne Airport

La Verne, CA – (October 1, 2018) After a small-plane crash left a pilot killed and a passenger seriously injured Sunday near La Verne Airport, one person died in a second deadly crash the following day, Monday, October 1st, La Verne Police Department said. The latest crash occurred at Brackett Field Airport around noon involving a single-engine Bonanza V35 aircraft. La Verne emergency response services arrived on scene and pronounced the sole occupant deceased. Investigations revealed that the plane was approaching the airport’s runway, when it may have hit a tree and crashed. Upon impact, the plane burst into flames, a scene which a nearby witness described seeing as “big, black smoke and flames.” Firefighters responded and were able to promptly contain the blaze, a La Verne Fire Department dispatcher said. Not far from the scene of the incident remained the wreckage of the previous day’s crash which killed one and seriously injured another. Both crashes are continuing to be investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board and FAA.
