A key freeway corridor to Southern California’s Port of Long Beach was blocked by a big-rig crash this morning. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 1:52 a.m. accident on April 20, 2012 occurred when a truck driver veered to avoid a vehicle that was traveling on Interstate 710 in the southbound direction. After swerving, the big-rig flipped, and hit the concrete center divider.

Debris from the wrecked truck that was hauling an empty shipping container was strewn along the 710 Freeway on both sides. The accident happened in the area of the city of Carson, north of I-405.

The accident impacted a number of other cars, and shut down most lanes of the 710 Freeway in both directions for several hours. No injuries were reported.
