Elderly Man Struck and Killed in La Verne

LA VERNE, CA (July 30, 2019) – Officials are reporting the death of an elderly man after he was struck by a vehicle on Arrow Highway in La Verne, a small city 5 miles east of San Dimas, Wednesday afternoon July 31st. According to La Verne police dispatchers, the department received reports to respond to a collision that occurred around 12:25 P.M. at the intersection Arrow Highway and A Street.

First responders arrived to find a 89-year old male victim lying in the roadway. The victim was transported by ambulance to a nearby and treated for major injuries but succumbed to those injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff a short time after arriving. According to officers, the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.

At this time authorities do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a factor in the collision. The victim’s identity was not released pending positive identification and notification of family by coroner’s officials.
