Shasta, CA (october 15, 2018) – A 30-year-old Hayfork man died Wednesday October 10th, in a collision between his motorcycle and a van on Highway 299 near Lower Springs Road, California Highway Patrol said. According to a news release, the unnamed motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Highway 299 approaching Lower Springs Road at around 10:45 a.m. when the crash occurred. At the same time, the driver of a Toyota van was westbound and attempted to make a left turn onto Lower Springs Road, just before the two vehicles collided. Authorities arrived on scene, but pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. The unidentified driver of the van sustained minor injuries and was not arrested. A portion of Highway 299 was closed for a few hours during initial investigations.
