LOS ANGELES, CA (July 30, 2021) – Late at night on Monday in South Los Angeles, a car smashed into a big rig, killing two people. The July 26 crash occurred in the area of Florence-Firestone, where Alameda Street and 85th Street intersect.

The time was roughly 10:00 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

For reasons that are not known, the car smashed into the big rig, and became lodged beneath it.

Responders arrived and found one person died at the crash site. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.

Responders transported one person to the hospital. The patient died in the hospital.

The identity of the person has also not been reported.

It is not known if the truck driver was hurt in the crash. The truck driver has not been identified in reports.

Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened.
