2 Girls Airlifted after Car Plunged Over Side of Glendora Mountain Road

1 teenage girl is in serious condition and another suffered minor injuries after their vehicle plunged over 300 feet down the side of Glendora Mountain Road in the Angeles National Forrest on Thursday evening, Sept. 28th. The incident occurred around 2:50 p.m. when Los Angeles County Sherif’s Department received a call from a cyclist who witnessed a Nissan Rogue make an unsafe turn that caused it to veer off the road and into the mountainside below, along the Glendora Mountain Road near mile marker 7 in the San Gabriel Mountains, according to authorities. The curving two-lane roadway, popular with bicyclists and motorcyclists, is notorious for the many accidents and deaths over the past decades. Sheriff’s officers were able to safely rescue both 18-year old women with the help of a Sherriff’s helicopter. Both women were airlifted to Huntington Hospital in Pasadena. The driver suffered major injuries included a fractured leg and pain in her legs and hips, while the passenger sustained minor injuries. Sherriff’s officials have not released the identity of the 2 women and it is unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
