1 Person and Police Officer Injured in Crash in Irvine

Irvine, CA – the Irvine Police Department is investigating an officer involved collision with another vehicle that happened at a busy intersection late Sunday evening.  Authorities say that the officer was responding to crime in progress when the officer collided with grey Toyota Prius that was entering the intersection of Irvine Center Drive and Yale Avenue. The officers patrol cruiser collided with the left side of the Toyota Prius. Both the officer and the driver of the Prius were transported by ambulance to Orange County Global Medical Center in unknown conditions. The intersection was closed off after the crash and traffic was diverted for about an hour and a half. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
