An eight-car crash occurred on Sunday night when the driver of a stolen vehicle ran a red light, according to the Tustin Police Department.

At around 8:30 p.m. a stolen Toyota Tundra ran a red light on El Camino Real and struck a Toyota Sequoia that was headed south on Tustin Ranch Road.

The Sequoia veered out of its path and hit several other cars before stopping on the northbound side of Tustin Ranch Road.

The driver of the stolen car was ejected from the driver’s seat and was seriously injured. Two other drivers were also injured and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Both roads were closed until 12:30 a.m. on Monday.

The driver of the stolen vehicle ran away from the accident, but a witness and some bloodhounds helped the police track him down.

When police found him, he told them that he had been riding a bicycle, though there was no bicycle to be seen.
