BB Shot Wound Allegedly Kills Santa Ana Woman

A Santa Ana woman was killed when she was accidentally shot in the chest with a BB rifle by her boyfriend Thursday morning. Authorities have not decided what charges to file against the boyfriend. Her family might want to file a wrongful death suit.

At around 11 a.m. at the 1000 block of S. Austin Street authorities responded to reports of a shooting.

Cpl. Anthony Bertagna of the Santa Ana Police Department told reporters that when authorities arrived they discovered an unconscious woman with a small puncture wound in her upper chest.

Martha Socorro Marin, a 32-year-old, was rushed to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, where she was pronounced dead. It is unclear if the woman died at the hospital or at the scene.

Per reports the unidentified 34-year-old man, her live-in boyfriend, alleged to authorities that whatever the circumstances were he did not mean to shoot her.

Despite the boyfriend’s allegations, authorities are still investigating the accident.

“At this point, we can’t think of any time where we’ve had a victim die of a BB gun. So was this done at close range? Was it accidental? Was it on purpose?” he told reporters.

Later, authorities told reporters that in the past, they’ve been called to the victim’s house but did not delve deeper into the subject for unknown reasons.

Huey Lai confirmed to reporters that in the past the couple has hit rough spots for all people in the neighborhood to see. He’s seen them take their argument from their home out to the public.

“It did come out to the street. They were cussing out loud. So loud that everyone heard around this neighborhood,” Lai said.

Reports stated that the couple had two children. Ariel Rosel told reporters he’s friends with the couple’s 12-year-old son.

“I felt kind of depressed after looking at him cry because I’ve never seen him cry,” Rose said.

At this time, the suspect is in custody until the DA’s office decides whether to file charges.

Fiery Los Angeles Car Collision Kills 3 People

Authorities say at least three people were killed in a car collision that erupted in fire in South Los Angeles, Tuesday evening.

A few moments before 10:30 p.m., someone alerted authorities regarding a vehicle on the 800 block of West Manchester Boulevard. A witness at the scene said two vehicles had crashed and one of them caught on fire shortly after.

Los Angeles Fire Department stated that three of the victims in one car died at the scene after being the only car that crashed against a light pole. Those victims were trapped in the vehicle and were “beyond help,” per Katherine Main of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Sgt. Vargas with the Los Angeles Police Department’s South LA Traffic Division told reporters that the condition of a fourth man was unknown. But that victim was rushed to the hospital and treated for personal injuries. He was ejected from the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Originally Sgt. Vargas had announced that only two people died at the fiery scene.

Video footage of the scene was published online. It displayed flames that rose above the wrecked vehicle, lighting up the surroundings while a firefighter worked to stop the blaze from spreading. There were a set of skid marks that managed to get on a sidewalk, an a toppled light pole.

Further information about the victims involved in the collision has not been made available to the public.

Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.

Officials told news reporters that an initial investigation showed that the car was traveling at a high rate of speed. Witnesses reported there may have been another vehicle involved that fled the scene right after the collision.

Following local automobile laws is important to reduce the chances of getting into an automobile accident. Make sure to pay attention to various speed limits set on roads that you are asked to follow. They are set to ensure the safety of those traversing through those thorough ways. Sometimes however, you are asked to follow the flow of the traffic. If traffic is at a standstill on a highway or a road, it becomes a safety hazard to travel at high rates of speed.

If you or a loved one were involved in a serious car accident, you may be entitled to compensation. For more information contact AA Accident Attorneys. A Los Angeles car accident lawyer can listen to your case free of charge!

Man Gets Personal Injury at Long Beach 711 Parking Lot

A man sustained serious personal burn injuries after being attacked while on the parking lot of a 7-Eleven. Authorities are investigating the mysterious attack.

Detectives are looking into the incident of a 63-year-old man who was sitting in his vehicle going about his day with the windows slightly lowered when another man tossed an incendiary device inside through one of the opened windows causing an explosion.

Witnesses say the SUV caught fire right away. They then through collaborative efforts worked to pull the burn victim from the fiery vehicle. They saved his life but his body suffered serious burns and had to be hospitalized.

When paramedics arrived on the scene, they rushed the burn victim to a nearby hospital. He remains at a local hospital in critical condition.

Authorities told reporters the accident happened minutes after 5:00 p.m. on Friday near PCH and Clark Avenue in Long Beach.

Raymond Sean Clark, a 38-year-old as identified by reporters, is being held in custody. He is a possible suspect to the incident.

“The suspect was found at a nearby location taken into custody. I will be able to get more information as the investigation continues,” Sgt. Aaron Eaton told reporters.

Investigators have not released a motive for the attack.

“There’s no information they had a relationship and no incident prior to this crime, so right now it looks like a random act,” according to Sgt. Eaton.

Authorities continue to investigate the scene. It is unknown if the suspect was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the incident.

California Juvenile Escapee Faces 7 Felony DUIs

A teen that escaped from a California juvenile detention and crashed a vehicle weeks later, which killed five Southern California family members in Arizona, was charged with seven felony DUIs on Wednesday.

Authorities say Jean Ervin Soriano, an 18-year-old, also faces two misdemeanor charges of failure to decrease speed and driving without a license. He was driving with a blood-alcohol content percentage of 0.12, which is well above the Nevada legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Soriano was allegedly behind the wheel of vehicle on Interstate 15 while driving under the influence of alcohol. He was about 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas in a 1999 Dodge Durango when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a Chevy Astro van.

Inside the van were seven people – all family members. On impact their vehicle spun around and overturned. While turning, most of the occupants were ejected from inside the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries.

Soriano and a 23-year-old passenger in the SUV were also hurt when their vehicle rear-ended the van carrying a trio of brothers and four other family members back to the Los Angeles area for Easter after visiting a sick relative in Denver.

After the collision, a witness told investigators that he saw Soriano and his passenger walk away from the crash site but then returned before rescue crews arrived.

Soriano was arrested shortly after being treated and released from a hospital, per reporters.

He told the arresting trooper he had “too many” beers before the crash, according to an arrest report. Then when officials searched the wrecked SUV, they found several scattered empty beer bottles rolling inside.

Soriano is being held at Clark County jail on $3.5 million bail in isolated protective custody. He told the judge he used to live in California but moved to St. George, Utah. He told his attorney he feels scared about what happened and has been praying for the family members killed and injured at the wreck.

Authorities in Orange County, Calif., said that Soriano fled on March 1st from a juvenile guidance center in Santa Ana that treats drug and alcohol abusers.

Kayaker Rescues Family After Their SUV Plunges Into River

A kayaker rescued a family of five after their SUV crashed and rolled into a Northern California river on Thursday.

While traversing through the Sierra Nevada community of Kyburz along Highway 50 during the afternoon in an SUV, a family was unexpectedly in an accident. For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle. It veered off the road, hit a concrete mile marker, a large tree, and a boulder and then rolled into the American River in Sacramento, various reporters shared.  It landed on its side and was half-submerged in the river.

Meanwhile, kayaker Mark Divittorio of Placerville was on the river at about the same time the SUV fell in and noticed the accident. He rushed to the scene of the accident and was able to extricate three children and get them safely to shore: a 4-year-old girl and two 15-year-twin girls.

“It was fortuitous that they didn’t actually land on me,” Divittorio told reporters. “I was kayaking right there moments before they plunged off the cliff.”

Divittorio returned to the SUV where he found the driver with his head partly underwater and the man’s wife helping to hold his head up

Within three minutes, a fire crew that happened to be in the area for another call was able to get to the scene.

Mike Pott, division chief of the El Dorado County Fire Protection District, told reporters that firefighters were able to stabilize the driver and get him and his wife out of the vehicle.

Christian Lemler, 50, of Livermore, was behind the wheel of vehicle at the time of the collision. He suffered moderate to major injuries, California Highway Patrol Sgt. Mike Poore told reporters.

Detectives are still working to investigate the accident. So far it is not clear how fast the SUV was going when it crashed into the river. It was raining at the time, but it was not known if the weather contributed to the crash.

Per authorities, all of the other family members suffered only bumps and bruises.

“All the circumstances came together,” Pott said. “Several things came together to help save this family.”

Everyone in the vehicle were wearing proper seatbelts and the child was strapped into a car seat, Pott said.

“If they didn’t have their seatbelts on I’m sure they would have all been ejected,” he said.
