A traffic collision that occurred on Wednesday morning on the eastbound on-ramp from Yorba Linda Boulevard to the 57 freeway injured one person.
Three vehicles were involved in the crash, which occurred when a woman driving a Ford Focus ZXW tried to merge onto the freeway, but could not see because she had the sun in her eyes.
Her car struck the back on a Ford F-150 that was stopped in front of her. The F-150 then crashed into the back of a Honda Fit.
The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 7:05 a.m.
The driver of the F-150 was injured, but was expected to survive.

A woman from Newport Coast killed a bicyclist while driving drunk and texting on her cellphone, according to reports from the Orange County Fire Authority.
Danae Marie Miller, 23, was sentenced to four years in prison for her involvement in the accident.
The victim was 41-year-old Amine Britel of Newport Beach. He owned a successful travel business and was a triathlete.
She was driving eastbound on San Joaquin Hills Road while texting on her phone. Britel was also traveling eastbound, when she struck him from behind.
Britel was pronounced dead at the scene.
Miller was arrested with a blood-alcohol level of .10 percent, just over the legal limit.
Miller pleaded guilty to one count of vehicular manslaughter, which carried a maximum sentence of 10 years in state prison.

A teenage driver who was unlicensed and uninsured was sentenced to spend one year in jail after he crashed his car into a tree and killed his passenger.
The 19-year-old driver, Francisco Jesus Ochoa, pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter, possession of a controlled substance, driving without a license and not maintaining insurance coverage.
According to official reports, Ochoa was traveling in a Ford pickup on Ortega Highway with Margarita Gutierrez as his passenger. He was driving erratically and lost control of his vehicle, before slamming into a tree.
Gutierrez was crushed by the impact. Ochoa was transported to the hospital with a broken leg.
Ochoa had six unprescribed Vicodin pills in his possession at the time of the crash.

A man died on Beach Boulevard last night after he was hit by a speeding vehicle while it was raining, according to the Huntington Beach police.
Officers responded to 911 calls at about 6:15 p.m. of a collision between a male pedestrian and a vehicle on Beach Boulevard near Indianapolis Avenue.
The pedestrian died at the scene, according to reports by emergency responders.
The man was crossing Beach Boulevard in front of a McDonald’s restaurant. There was no crosswalk at that part of the road, and police are speculating that because of the rainy weather, the driver did not see the man.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

A woman was killed this morning in Pleasanton as she tried to run across the Interstate 580 Freeway, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. As witnesses told California Highway Patrol officers, the woman, who was in her 50s, ran onto the interstate’s eastbound lanes near Santa Rita Road around 6:15 a.m. on February 24, 2012. She reportedly had been running toward the center divider and waving her hands in the air, the Chronicle says, according to witnesses who shared the information with officers.
A driver in his 40s hit the woman in a middle lane where he had been following other traffic. CHP officer Steve Creel said in the Chronicle’s news story that the man had not seen the woman on the freeway until the car that was directly in front of him veered to avoid the woman. According to Officer Creel, investigators do not as yet know why the woman was running on the freeway. No other information is currently available.

Three people were hurt and another person is missing and presumed dead as a result of crash last night that sent their car into the Delta Mendota Canal in Tracy, California. Around 11:45 p.m. on February 23, 2012, a BMW 300 series vehicle went off the runway at the Tracy Municipal Airport and into the water, News10/KXTV reports. Three of the people who were in the car were able to climb out after it plunged in the water, Sgt. Tony Sheneman of the Tracy Police Department said. The fourth person is missing.
The missing victim is a man from Europe, and according to Sgt. Sheneman, authorities contacted the man’s consulate so staff there could notify his next of kin. Sgt. Sheneman also said that the driver, who lives in Tracy, was arrested and is in custody on charges of vehicular manslaughter. According to Sgt. Sheneman, neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to play a role in the crash, News10 reports.
The BMW was recovered from the canal. No other information is available.

A helicopter and a small Beechcraft Bonanza airplane collided midair near Rio Vista Municipal Airport on Sunday evening
The helicopter then crash-landed in a field, while the plane continued on for another 30 miles before landing at Byron airport.
The initial 911 calls were reported at 6:50 p.m.
Both pilots were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. They were both released from the hospital earlier today.

A crash in Seal Beach left a Nissan sedan completely severed in half just behind the driver’s seat and one person seriously injured.
The crash was reported at 2:15 a.m. on Lampson Avenue near Basswood Street. There was only one vehicle involved.
